Vegas Golden Knights To Debut Metallic Third Jersey This Weekend

  • The Vegas Golden Knights will debut their much hyped gold metallic third jersey this weekend.
  • Vegas opened their 2020-2021 season with a 5-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.
  • The Golden Knights will host the Ducks at T-Mobile Arena again on Saturday.

The Vegas Golden Knights will debut their metallic gold ‘third jersey’ on Saturday night when they host the Anaheim Ducks. The gold jerseys quickly became a social media sensation when they were announced in October but this will be their first appearance in live game action:

Golden Knights chief marketing officer Brian Killingsworth explained the concept behind the jersey back when they were released in early October:

“The ideation behind the jersey, which was created and came to life with the help of adidas and support from the NHL, is bold and bright just like the community that we are all proud to call home. It is truly reflective of the sports and entertainment capital of the world and reinforces the Vegas Golden Knights’ push for innovation. The third jersey advances our brand and is the perfect way to represent the pride we all share in being #VegasBorn.”

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will unfortunately be no fans in attendance for the debut of the third jersey. The team is excited nonetheless according to defenseman Shea Theodore:

“I’m definitely looking forward to seeing those jerseys, and hopefully we’re buzzing pretty good with them on.”

Center Tomas Nosek added:

“It’s always nice to have a third jersey or something special.”

The team is sparing no detail to accent the gold jerseys. Here’s how the Las Vegas Review-Journal described it:

The fabric sparkles under the lights at T-Mobile Arena and is accompanied by steel gray pants and helmets, white gloves and gold socks that feature red, white and steel gray stripes.

Also getting attention on social media–the Vegas coaching staff has special gold tracksuits with matching caps, the brainchild of team owner Bill Foley:

Said defenseman Theodore:

“They’re pretty funny. We were giving them a little bit of grief. But, you know, they’re colorful.”

Since they were the owner’s idea presumably they’re not ‘optional’.
