Street Signs Installed On ‘Raiders Way’ In Las Vegas

  • The Raiders are preparing for their first season in Las Vegas after relocating from Oakland.
  • The street in front of their under construction team headquarters in suburban Henderson, Nevada has been renamed ‘Raiders Way’.
  • Road maintenance crews from the City of Henderson began installing the signs earlier today.

The Las Vegas Raiders have a new home in a thriving city, a state of the art stadium nearing completion and now they have their own street. Earlier today, maintenance crews from the city of Henderson, Nevada began installing signs along what will now be known as ‘Raiders Way’. Suburban Henderson is just outside of Las Vegas and will be the location for the team’s headquarters–also under construction.

The street renaming was approved last month by Henderson City Council and just like that what was formerly Executive Airport Drive became ‘Raiders Way’. As part of the deal, the Raiders agreed to pick up the tab for new street signs as well as covering the cost for businesses along the street to revise their letterheads, business cards and other marketing materials. Henderson city officials said it cost $7,275 to replace the street signs on that stretch of what was Executive Airport Drive. The Executive Airport is still there, just across the street from the site of the Raiders’ headquarters. The street had been previously renamed in 1997.

The illuminated street signs installed on traffic lights are especially cool–they’re on a black background with white lettering which is the closest to the iconic ‘silver and black’ permitted by the Nevada State Department of Transportation. The non-lighted signs also stay with the theme featuring a white background with black lettering. They’ll stand out vividly from the generic green background with white lettering seen elsewhere on Henderson streets.

The team’s headquarters will be 13 miles from the spectacular new Allegiant Stadium where the Raiders will play. The HQ facility looks like a bargain at $75 million compared to the $2 billion price tag of the stadium and will include team offices, three outdoor fields, 1 1/2 indoor fields, a weight room, physical rehabilitation center and a TV studio–along with a store for the locals to load up on Raiders swag.

The Las Vegas Review Journal also reported that there will be at least one more Raiders themed street renaming. The team received approval from Clark County in 2018 to change the street on the north end of Allegiant Stadium from Aldebaran Avenue to Al Davis Way to honor the legendary former Raiders owner.
