While the “Big Four” dominate the headlines, the real money at Augusta is often made in the mid-tier of the board. With the course playing long this year, the value is shifting toward players with elite proximity stats and proven major pedigrees.
The Sabres of the Fairway: Matt Fitzpatrick
Matt Fitzpatrick (+2350) is the name on everyone’s lips this week. Coming off a massive win at the Valspar Championship, Fitzpatrick has surged into the top 10 of the World Rankings. His short game is tailor-made for the lightning-fast greens at Augusta, and at nearly 24/1, he offers a much higher ceiling than the favorites.
Dark Horses and Longshots
- Justin Rose (+3500): The three-time runner-up lost in a playoff to McIlroy last year. He knows this course better than almost anyone in the field, and his +265 price for a Top 10 finish is arguably the best value on the board.
- Patrick Reed (+4400): A former champion at 44/1 is always worth a look. Reed’s ability to scramble and save par from “impossible” spots makes him a perennial threat on the weekend.
- Jacob Bridgeman (+9200): If you want a true “lottery ticket” flyer, the young debutant has the statistical profile to surprise the field.
